The 5 Lakes Lane Association welcomes you to our community.

More quick links to the Township website can be found here.

This website is intended to inform people who may live here,
and as a resource for people who already live here.

We are located about 30 km north of Kingston Ontario. The topography is Canadian shield, forested, and the lanes have access to 5 Lakes. Some folks have been here for 20+ years and some for a year. We think of ourselves as a community and as such we’d pull you out of a ditch if you ever need that!

Additional information can be found here:

We are roughly 30 km north of the 401 at Kingston, 5 km east of Verona, off Road 38, in South Frontenac Township. The area covered by our Association starts at the corner of Bauder Drive and Meredith Lane, and encompasses all the contained lanes.

There is no exit to any other roads other than through this corner.

The ‘main’ lane is Meredith Lane.

The ‘feeder’ lanes are Buffy Lake Lane, Old 14 Island Lane, Little John Lane, Old Mine Lane, Mink Trap Lane, Sigsworth Lane.

Total length is about 7 km. There are hills and rocks and deer and turtles. Beauty all around.

In South Frontenac roads are maintained by the township and lanes are maintained by the people who use them. In other words, your Township property taxes contribute to road maintenance, and your Association and feeder lane fees contribute to lane maintenance.

There are about 400 lanes in South Frontenac, all maintained by the people who use them.

There are about 60 properties in this subdivision. All properties are multi-acre, and secluded, and most have lakefront.

Township

Garbage and recycling is collected by the Township every Wednesday. Recycling alternates bi-weekly between plastics/metal and paper/glass.

Refer to the Resources > Township page for details.

We keep it clean

We have a rotation of community members who keep the garbage and recycling area clean and tidy. We hope that all permanent or semi-permanent residents of the area will accept the responsibility to take on this duty.

This rotation is managed by Joe Buckley (profjoe4476@gmail.com or (613) 583-2760).

The goal of the communal area maintenance is simple: keep the area from becoming an eyesore and health hazard. To accomplish this goal is also simple. On the evening of the pickup day, or on the day after:

  • Look in all three garbage bins. Verify that no bags were left behind after the pickup.
Bags are left by the collectors usually either because they are not tagged, or because they
are too heavy. In either case, contact the coordinator who will deal with the issue.
  • Look in the kiosk. Tidy the recycle bins into rows to make it easier for residents to find
them. If there are any bins not emptied, usually because they were placed out in the
wrong week, leave them in the kiosk for the next week. Pick up any loose recycle. Put it
    in an appropriate bin.
  • Look at the general area. If there is any loose garbage, put it in a bag for pickup the next
week. The same applies to lose garbage in the bins or the kiosk.
  • Report any large objects left in the area not picked up, or anything else unusual.

In a normal week, this entire process should take less than 10 minutes, and would normally be
done at the same time as the pickup of your recycle bin.

Please contact Joe Buckley to add your name to the list!

The lanes access 5 lakes in this community which are a part of the Napanee River watershed.

The 5 lakes are (in order of upstream to downstream): Buffy, Little Johns Sister, Little John, Mink (aka Sigsworth) and 14 Island Lake.

Please refer to the lake association (FIMLA) for more details: FIMLA.CA

There is a private boat launching area on 14 Island Lake. Please refer to the Lake Association website for details.

We love our dogs, but be aware that not everyone else loves your dog!

Note that dogs must be on a leash when not on your property, and their poop must be picked up!

See the Township Bylaws on the Resources>Township page.

From time to time throughout the year the Township declares a ‘burn ban’ due to a high risk of uncontrolled fire.
