The ‘Feeder’ lanes are branches off Meredith Lane. The property owners on each feeder lane maintain their own lane, and are responsible for collecting the funds and organizing the work to do so. Lane Reps work with the 5LLA Lane Manager to coordinate maintenance activities and snow removal issues.

Here is some information on each Feeder lane.

Little John’s Lane is a privately owned lane, is less than half a km long, has no exit and is only accessible from Meredith Lane. It is a quiet lane that holds both beauty and character. With each property having  large lot sizes it gives us a sense of wilderness and privacy, and allows us to experience wildlife in its natural setting.

Lane Rep: Dave Travers

Old Mine Lane has 16 properties on it.

There is an informal association which meets annually to set fees and plan the lane maintenance. The primary contacts are Peter Bedoukian and Dave Travers. Dave is also the lane rep for coordinating maintenance and snow ploughing with the 5 Lakes Lanes Association.

There is a causeway between the 4th and 5th properties with 2 large culverts. These drain the water from Buffy, Little John Sister and Little John lakes into Mink lake. In 2014 after a wet spring and large snow pack, we almost lost the causeway.

That summer we added the second culvert!

Now we have to keep them clear from beaver activity. Soon we’ll install a beaver and debris stopper to reduce the ongoing maintenance work needed to protect the causeway. Thanks to Dave for doing this.

Here’s the Beaver Stopper Dave and Gord and Mike installed on Old Mine Lane.

Lane Rep: Joe Buckley

Mink Trap Lane connects five properties along the south shore of the west basin of Mink Lake.  It serves the oldest development in the Five Lakes Lanes area, with four cottages being built in the 1960’s and formally subdivided into five lots in 1980. There are currently both seasonal and permanent residents on the lane.

There is no lane association, formal or informal, for its upkeep,
however, the Lane Rep, Joe Buckley, coordinates repairs and
maintenance as necessary.
