We have a rotation of community members who keep the garbage and recycling area clean and tidy. We hope that all permanent or semi-permanent residents of the area will accept the responsibility to take on this duty.

This rotation is managed by Joe Buckley (profjoe4476@gmail.com or (613) 583-2760).

The goal of the communal area maintenance is simple: keep the area from becoming an eyesore
and health hazard. To accomplish this goal is also simple. On the evening of the pickup day, or
on the day after:

• Look in all three garbage bins. Verify that no bags were left behind after the pickup.
  Bags are left by the collectors usually either because they are not tagged, or because they
  are too heavy. In either case, contact the coordinator who will deal with the issue.
• Look in the kiosk. Tidy the recycle bins into rows to make it easier for residents to find
  them. If there are any bins not emptied, usually because they were placed out in the
  wrong week, leave them in the kiosk for the next week. Pick up any loose recycle. Put it
  in an appropriate bin.
• Look at the general area. If there is any loose garbage, put it in a bag for pickup the next
  week. The same applies to lose garbage in the bins or the kiosk.
• Report any large objects left in the area not picked up, or anything else unusual.

In a normal week, this entire process should take less than 10 minutes, and would normally be
done at the same time as the pickup of your recycle bin.
